The annual Polish festival of the Sacred Heart of Mary is scheduled for August 7

WEIRTON – The Church of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Weirton will hold its annual Polish Festival on August 7 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Serbian Picnic Ground, located at 36 Kings Creek Road, Weirton.

Doors will open at 11 a.m. and Mass will be at noon.

“Come and enjoy excellent Polish cuisine prepared by our parishioners,” said a church spokesperson. The fare will include cabbage rolls, roast beef, kielbasa and kraut, haluski, potato pierogi and hot dogs.

There will be homemade baked goods as well as funnel cakes and snow cones.

The event will include a cash bar and drawings. Parking is $5 per car. The Mickey Dee Trio will play music from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The historical society continues summer open days on Sunday

RICHMOND — The Richmond Community Historical Society continues its open house series with the Crew House Museum located at 34 W. Main St., Richmond, open to visitors Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Among the most recent exhibits is one that features vintage wedding dresses, accessories and photos. Admission to the museum is free and donations are welcome. Summer Open Houses will continue from noon to 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Sundays in August.

The museum features a variety of memorabilia from the city and includes a second floor dedicated to Jefferson Union High School artifacts. Various items are available for purchase, including Richmond pottery mugs and history books.

CCHS Class of 1972 making plans for a 50 year reunion

STEUBENVILLE — Members of the Steubenville Catholic Central High School Class of 1972 will celebrate their 50-year class reunion on Sept. 24.

The event will take place at the Steubenville Country Club beginning at 6 p.m. Animation will be provided by Twice as Nice. Other activities related to the reunion are planned throughout the weekend.
