Belfast dessert shop saved from closure after local entrepreneur’s lifeline

A popular west Belfast dessert shop has been saved from closure after a generous offer of help from a local man.

Beechmount Avenue-based Patisserie G’s Rainne took to social media to share the happy news, after revealing that a man who is the CEO of Amcomri Group Limited has offered to pay the electricity bill for the establishment.

The local café and pastry shop were due to close permanently this Saturday, but will now fully reopen this Monday.

It marks a remarkable turnaround for a business after the string of closures that have hit local businesses across Northern Ireland in recent weeks due to rising costs.

The news was greeted with joy by the hundreds of people who commented in response to the social media post.

In a post on Facebook, the business owner wrote: “I was ready to close the pastry shop on Saturday heartbroken not only because of the work I did every day, but also the people I would let down. with the breakfast club, those who come just to unload because there is no one at home, the children, the contractors club, the book club, our regulars, the women’s group”, a- she writes.

“I received a message and a phone call from the son of a man born in Amcomri Street. He is now the CEO of a large company. The Amcomri Group. The McGowans are ready to pay our electricity bills and to keep the pastry open.

“I went from an emotional thank you to, ‘Is this a joke,’ to whoa, no thank you, that’s big enough.

“It’s been a rollercoaster ride, a few of my lovely customers commented last week on how tired I looked. So I’m taking this week to recharge, breathe, do some baking work that needs to be done. be sorted.

“A big thank you to everyone who bought gifts/donations. I’m actually cut to the bone because they were meant for closure and turned into ‘stay open’ gifts. As if I wasn’t socially awkward enough to receive gifts but thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“Reopening Monday, October 3. Breakfast club activated, Halloween decorating course activated, young entrepreneurs club Halloween week activated.

“But how amazing it is for these kids at the club to have someone like [the] McGowans to admire. Never be afraid to go beyond the stars. I said from day one at the Entrepreneur Club, no matter where you live, with hard work and dedication, you can be anything you want to be.
