Harrow locals reveal ‘most wanted’ shops in town center

With two major dispatch centers and a huge range of shops and restaurants, Harrow is already a great place to shop any time of the year.

The town center has a cinema, a mini golf course with a games room, a plethora of cafes and restaurants and some great clothing stores such as Sports Direct, Foot Locker, Primark and TK Maxx, but what’s missing? he ?

We wanted to know what shops or restaurants Harrow locals would like to see in the town centre, the best answers are below…

“The town center could do with another facelift but I think one thing that could help would be a Harvester, we go to the one in Bushey all the time and it’s a nice place to take the kids.”

“I miss River Island in St Anns, would love to see it back as the clothes are top notch and I don’t like going to Watford, it’s too far!.”

“There are so many places to eat and drink in Harrow, give people a place to buy household items, i.e. big items, so you don’t have to go to big commercial parks that are not accessible to everyone.”

“Home Bargains, John Lewis, clothing stores not Zara, more cafes, restaurants.”

“Rough Trade style record store, music products and books and musical instruments and accessories.”

“Zara, John Lewis (please), etc. Enough of the “cheap and cheerful” places that knock the city center off.”

“Canadian food! Poutines, maple bacon, maple desserts, Canadian beers etc…”

“A huge John Lewis with coffee,
Costco, a great steakhouse, fresh fish and food market, huge baker serving fresh handmade bread/pastries, Planet Organic/itsu, a whole foods market deli – like the one they have in Oxford Street / Kensington.

“A Zara or a Dunelm would attract a lot of people as they aren’t available locally anymore. People who go and spend money in decent shops usually hang around for lunch and dinner or drinks in my opinion.

“How about Carluccios, The Real Greek, Cote and an Albion and East bar/restaurant located in Perceval Square.”

” Wagamama. Excellent restaurant choice that appeals to a wide audience.

“And if we asked what should be changed? There are a few that I would replace but Harrow at least has a Card Factory, it’s so much more affordable than things like Moon Pig and they have every card you can imagine.

“I miss the food and atmosphere at Chiquitos.”

“A Nike store please or especially a Nike outlet like the one at Wembley, great prices and they have others too like Adidas and Champion.”

“A rotisserie would be nice, who doesn’t love a good roast?”

“River Island, Zara, Homesense (the little corner of Tk Maxx is too small), The Range…”

“There was a Chinese takeout on Mason’s Ave in the 70’s, they did the nicest fried rice special in Wealdstone.”

“Unless they plan to bring Woolworths back I’m not sure, it was the only place to go for all your Christmas shopping every year, it’s just not the same without it.”

“Jimmys world food kitchen or a food hall like Orient’s at Edgware.”

“The town center could go the same way as Wembley with the designer shops and the cheap sportswear, it’s completely changed the area for the better and if that happens in Harrow it’s a win- winner for everyone.”
