Lewiston macaron maker happily buys Sabattus bakery

November 19 – SABATTUS – Front Porch Bakery has found an enthusiastic buyer.

The former owner had posted on social media earlier this year that she was looking to move on, writing: “Will work with the new owner to have a smooth transition. Space is great for other ideas with a brilliant owner. Nice little town and the best customers. Will NOT sell to a cranky person. “

Jenna Roberts, owner of Marvelous Macarons, said she’s been thinking about finding a bigger kitchen for some time. When she heard about the opening of this space, it felt like it was meant to be.

She bought the business last month and Friday is opening day.

“It’s literally a dream come true,” said Roberts of Lewiston. “I’ve been in the baking business for almost 13 years and have worked for a lot of other people. (I) started Marvelous Macarons at home, always having a store in mind that someday I could go. ‘get out.”

This wouldn’t have been possible without the Lewiston Farmers Market and the support of a business mentor at Terry & Maxine’s to Turner and her family, she said.

From the new location at 136 Sabattus Road, she will be offering breads, pies, cakes, cake pops and, of course, macaroons.

Roberts plans to change the name and puts it to a vote at a grand opening on Saturday afternoon.

“It will either be ‘bittys bakeshop‘ after my daughter or ‘Friends macarons and bakery’ after Friend’s Deli that my grandparents owned in Lewiston for years,” she said. “As far as ‘won’t sell to a cranky person’, we talked about it a lot. She kept it to me because she really felt like I was the right person. I’m more than excited… and I am very much looking forward to all future things! “
