Lord’s Acre sale on October 1 benefits local churches and charities

The Montgomery County Lord’s Acres Sale will be held Saturday, October 1 at the Radford Auto Auction from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local churches will offer crafts, baked goods, preserves and garden items for sale. Ham cookies, hot dogs and burgers will be available.

A devotional will take place at 9 a.m.

We will commemorate our 65th anniversary. The Montgomery County Lord’s Acre has been an ongoing event since 1955, but due to COVID the sale was canceled in 2020 and 2021. The idea behind the Lord’s Acre was for church members to set aside a acre, the proceeds of that acre contributing to the church’s Lord’s Acre fund. It was not uncommon to buy a calf or hay or a bushel of potatoes on sale! Of course, many people enjoyed the homemade crafts and baked goods as well as delicious ‘plated lunches’. It was and is a great time of camaraderie with neighbors and other members of the community.

As in the past, each church is required to donate 10% of sales proceeds to an outside charity. The remaining money is often used by churches to maintain their buildings and, if necessary, for the construction of new facilities. Missionary projects are often funded by the sale of the Lord’s acre.

Radford Auto Auction is located off I-81, exit 109, at the corner of Mudpike and Tyler roads. For more information, email [email protected]

We hope you will join us in celebrating our 65th anniversary!
