    What’s in the box?

Although the box appears modest in size, the brushed aluminum mixer comes with a plethora of accessories. Inside the mixer stand is a 3.8L stainless steel bowl and 4.7L large borosilicate glass bowl. Accessory elements include a wire whisk, scraper, flat beater, dough hook, splash guard, pourer and spatula. All of them are sturdy and of durable quality.

Design-wise, it’s light to carry and has an ergonomic handle on the front to help move it around. If you don’t have a lot of space, this is a great size for any countertop. Best of all, it’s sleek and upscale made of brushed aluminum and makes a stylish addition to your kitchen.

What does the Sage the Bakery Boss stand mixer look like?

Notable things about this blender is how easy and hassle-free it is to use. Just press the tilt release button at the top to change your range of accessories. Having two bowls makes things quicker if you have more than one mix to go or to make the frosting. Another handy thing is that the glass bowl has cup measurements on it, so you won’t have to worry about the scale!

A small problem is knowing which setting would be ideal for my mixes and getting the right timings. In this case, it’s a matter of trial and error, it could very well be or be catastrophic! However, Sage The Bakery Boss comes equipped with an adjustable mixing speedometer and LCD timer (my favorite!). Simply set the timer, turn the dial and choose from the following options: Fold Knead, Light Mix, Beat Cream, and Aeration Whisk. There’s even a handy Pause setting when you need to add ingredients without interrupting the timer. It also saves you from standing on top of the mixer while it is finishing.

Perhaps the main feature of the Sage The Bakery Boss mixer is that it uses a planetary mixing action, which provides better bowl coverage and thoroughly mixes all of your ingredients. This is also what they use in commercial bakeries and pastry shops, and it gives the mixes a perfect, chewy texture.

I especially liked the stylish details, such as the blue lighting on the mixer indicator and the LED light under the mixer head to see your progress. Best of all, it’s incredibly quiet, which is a plus for making these pastries anytime!

Bake cakes in the Sage The Bakery Boss stand mixer

I really enjoyed making cakes and cookies with this blender. Not only is the mixer simple to use (no instructions needed!), But I was also impressed with its mixing “action” and powerful performance. The large glass mixing bowl with ml measurements was handy for pouring in my dry ingredients. I usually have to take out the scale to measure and pour again, so it saved me a lot of time. Best of all, the LCD timer function and the light under the mixer head above the bowl were handy for monitoring progress.

The flat beater attachment is particularly heavy and durable, which is a benefit when you mix the wet ingredients into the mixture more consistently. After about 4 minutes of using the Light Beating setting, I was impressed with the smooth consistency of my cake mix. Not a bump in sight! The end results were even better, and my sponge cake had a light and chewy texture in the middle, with a delicious crispy top.

Plus, I especially liked the flat scraper for mixing my cookie mixes. It quickly blended all of my ingredients into a firm paste texture in under 3 minutes. In addition, the scraper was effective in picking up all the flour left on the sides and leaving almost nothing on the attachment. It also ensures that no cookie mix is wasted, and more to eat!

Baking bread in the Sage The Bakery Boss stand mixer

Compared to my hassle-free cake mix, I was a bit disappointed with the bread making. Granted, the folding and kneading presets were really handy, but I found that they weren’t as powerful at mixing the dough. I have found it takes a lot longer to knead my ingredients well, compared to other mixers such as the Bosch MUM59340GB stand mixer.

Plus, while it was effective at kneading the center of the mixture, it didn’t seem to touch the flour on the sides of the bowl. I actually had to help him with the spatula. Either way, the mixer is strong and sturdy for handling heavy dough mixes. Remember to use the splash guard to prevent flour puffs (and extra cleaning!). Having said that, my white bread didn’t turn out so bad and was quite tasty. It had a soft texture in the middle with a slight crust. Perfect for brunch!

Cleaning the Sage The Bakery Boss Stand Mixer

While all removable parts are dishwasher safe, the whisk and glass bowl are not. So if you have a larger sink, you can quickly wash your bowl with soapy water. It is quite heavy though, so can be heavy to handle. The wire whisk is also a bit tricky for pulling out all the bits of the mixture, but that’s not a major issue. The blender itself is easy to clean and maintain with a wipe down that literally takes seconds.

Is Sage The Bakery Boss Stand Mixer Worth It?

Sage The Bakery Boss Stand Mixer

As you would expect with high-end blenders, Sage The Bakery Boss comes at a higher price. But compared to others of similar price, it offers a lot more. For example, a lot of thought has gone into the design, and the smart mixer settings and LCD timer are a bonus. It is also fully equipped with all the handy accessories you would need to save you from buying extra items. Not to mention its 1200 watts of power to quickly mix all your cake mixes in record time.

Although it does not have the look and feel of the KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer (similarly priced), Sage The Bakery Boss is much friendlier and a worthwhile investment.

The verdict: should you buy the Sage The Bakery Boss stand mixer?

If you’re looking for a heavy-duty blender that requires very little effort, Sage The Bakery Boss makes baking simple. Designed for convenience, it is user-friendly with its smart setting indicator and LCD timer functions. Savvy bakers will appreciate its 1200W power for quickly preparing these smooth and silky mixes. Which in my opinion is way more superior than other mixers I have used. Keep in mind that you may need a little patience when making bread mixes as it takes quite a bit of time. However, this is not much of a problem if you are still baking cakes.

The minor downsides are that the wire whisk and glass bowl are not dishwasher safe. This is a little disappointing considering the weight (and size) of the bowl to be hand washed with care. However, these can easily be overlooked by the convenience, sleek design, and practical functionality of the blender.
