Stella A. Madden Wass, 91, died on Saturday September 11, 2021 in Lakeland, Florida. Born June 11, 1930 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was the eldest daughter of the late Squire E. and Minnie Alice Torrence Pickens. She has resided her entire life in the tri-state area and recently moved to Florida.
Stella was a staunch patriot and a staunch supporter of veterans. She was proud to be a life member of the VFW Female Auxiliary. She has volunteered many hours in VA hospitals to alleviate the suffering of injured and sick veterans. Stella loved to cook and always had a cabinet full of homemade baked goods.
Stella is predeceased by her parents, her first husband Lawrence Hugh Madden II, her daughter Christine Marie Madden, her sister Drucella Fern Pickens and her second husband William R. Wass. She is survived by her children Lawrence H. Madden III, Kathleen A. Madden, William E. Madden, Alice M. Madden, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a close friend Dick Williams and Hershey.
At Stella’s request, there will be no funeral. Following internment at Riverview Cemetery, East Liverpool, Ohio, a Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are made through Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, Lakeland, Florida. Condolences can be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
