The Village Lanterne extends to Black Forest Bakery in Lindenhurst

After 51 years of serving sweet treats to the Lindenhurst community, Black Forest Bakery will close on November 1st.

Owner Thomas Lorch announced on Facebook that the retail bakery will close and merge with the family’s other establishment, The Village Lanterne, to create more seating and kitchen space.

Lorch says they can now move forward with their plan to look more to the food and beverage industry, which has shut down for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is with a heavy heart, but with great excitement that we take this next step,” Lorch said in his statement. “We hope to see you at the Lantern Village so that we can continue to make more memories and friendships.”

Last year the store next to the bakery became a new pub for the restaurant, and Lorch says it’s proven successful.

The Lantern Village will continue to serve breakfast and the Lorch family intends to continue making second-hand cakes and other baked goods through the catering service of the German restaurant.
